If you’re looking for a high-yielding, disease-resistant, and versatile black pepper variety, Panniyur‑8 is an excellent choice. Its strong performance in both open and partially shaded environments, combined with its resilience and yield, makes it a favorite among modern pepper growers.
For planting, choose a well-drained, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Avoid water-logged areas. Grows well under partial shade; coconut, arecanut, or silver oak trees are ideal standards.
For propogation, Use rooted cuttings from high-yielding, disease-free mother vines. Panniyur-8 is a vine, so it must be trained on a support/standard tree.
Panniyur 8 planting time is June–July (monsoon season) as it is ideal in most regions. Ensure moisture is available but avoid water stagnation. Panniyur 8 planting technique is very easy. Plant the rooted cutting 15 cm away from the support tree at a slight angle. Tie the vine gently to the support using jute or coir twine. Use mulch (dry leaves, husks) to conserve soil moisture.
Panniyur 8 needs some after care. Provide partial shade, especially in the first year. Apply Trichoderma or pseudomonas bio-control agents to prevent root diseases. Remove unwanted shoots and prune support trees to maintain ideal light levels.

Panniyur 8 would likely be selected for traits such as high yield potential, disease resistance, and adaptability to various agro-climatic conditions. It would probably share similarities with other Panniyur varieties in terms of cultural practices and market demand.
