The finance department issued an order granting Rs 12.50 per kilogram as subsidy for procuring coffee beans as part of Wayanad package. The coffee beans that has a certain quality and costs Rs 65 will be procured for Rs 90 through Brahmagiri Development Society.

The project aims at increasing agricultural income by using scientific farming methods. Malabar is known for its delicious ‘monsoon’ coffee. The truth Malabar coffee was accidentally found is a little-known fact. Each eligible farmer family is entitled to receive Rs. 6000 per annum across India. However, the amount is not disbursed at once. Instead, it’s divided into three equal installments and meted out four months apart. Each farmer, thus receives Rs. 2000 every month. The Karnataka government issued an order on Thursday providing powder subsidy for pump sets up to 10 hp used by coffee growers. The subsidy in the form of reimbursement will be paid to the growers under the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system, the order said.
According to a press release from the Board here, subsidies were given to the growers during 2019-2020 and have been extended for 2020-2021. Under the replantation scheme, 90% of the unit cost is given to Scheduled Caste farmers who have up to two hectares of land and 75% subsidy to SC farmers who have two ha to 10 ha of land.
